Travel accessories for a truck

These days trucks are not just used for heavy duty transporting.  People take them on business trips, on vacation and for days out with the family.  For this reason there is an ever growing market for truck accessories that allow you to travel in comfort and with style!

There is nothing worse than the blast of heat that hits you when you open the doors of a truck that has been left out in the sun all day.  Sun shades not only help to protect the vinyl of your console and your seats from the sun’s harmful UV rays they also help to keep the interior temperature of your truck down when you are out and about.  They come in many different varieties, from those with rubber pads that stick to the window, to retractable shades for the windscreen and shades that even reflect the sun’s rays back away from the vehicle.

Driving into the sun’s glare hurts your eyes and makes driving conditions dangerous.  As we are all aware, a truck’s in-built visors are not always large enough when the sun is low.  To help improve this situation there are a range of retractable visors that can be fitted to the interior of the windscreen and pulled down to help block out the glare of the sun when needed.

Trucks are large vehicles with the potential to cause huge damage or death if driven into other vehicles or pedestrians.  For this reason a good view from all mirrors is essential.  There are a variety of truck accessories to add to the standard truck mirrors in your truck.  You can buy ultra wide rear view mirrors, which help to give you a view through all the windows at the same time and auxiliary mirrors which are places on top of the wing mirrors to cover blind spots and give a better view of the curb.

Of course, not all travel happens during the daylight hours and standard interior lights are not always up to the job of illuminating as brightly as you might wish.  For this reason you might want to invest in a couple of different sized flash lights (if you buy the wind up variety then there is no chance that when you go to use it that the batteries have run flat).

One of the truck accessories that no-one should be without these days is a GPS.  There are huge numbers of these on the market, with world-wide coverage, and they help to prevent those well known family arguments over which turn to take!

Truck accessories

As well as keeping your truck looking good, regular cleaning ensures that the paintwork remains in good condition for a much longer time span.  If you leave your truck without washing it regularly then the dirt, tar and salt will build up causing rust and stripping the paint of its shine.  Keep a good supply of truck accessories especially for cleaning so that you can clean your truck at least once per week.

Choose a time of the day that isn’t too hot as otherwise the water will dry too quickly causing unsightly soap spots.

Start by hosing the truck down to remove any larger pieces of dirt or debris and then check the truck for stubborn stains such as tar, grease and dead insects.  These can be difficult to remove during a shampoo and so it’s a good idea to apply some of the specialist products on the market that will help to remove them without too much effort.  When you have removed these contaminants then use a specialist car or truck shampoo to wash down the truck as using something like washing up liquid could strip the truck of some of its protective wax.

There is a huge variety of choice when it comes to drying the vehicle after it’s been rinsed.  You can spend just a small amount on buying a chamois or the old favourite, a terry towel!  Alternatively you could go all the way and buy a high power air blaster to do the job for you.  In between these two choices of truck accessories is a special microfiber towel.

Brake dust is notoriously difficult to remove from wheels and so It’s a good idea to buy a wheel cleaner kit containing special brushes and a formula that will remove brake dust without removing the protective coating on the truck wheel.  The truck tyres can be blackened if they are beginning to fade.

When it comes to the windows an alcohol based cleaner will do the best job as it is incredibly difficult to clean your windows perfectly without some sort of stain.  Using a good microfiber towel to dry the windows afterwards will also make a world of difference.

Once your truck is beautifully clean all that is left is to bring up a wonderful sheen on the paintwork.  There is an enormous choice of truck accessories for waxing and polishing from hand held buffers and pads to an electric car polisher. They should all be used with some good quality wax as not only does it help to protect against rust but it also helps ward off some of those damaging UV rays.  Also don’t leave out your truck bumpers as they can also fade in the sunlight.
